60′ : We reconstruct the lives of two women who fought against fascism: Syra Alonso and Mercedes Núñez
On the wall or on the board we have a continuous roll of paper where we place 4 or 5 photos (depending on the number of groups) from different moments in these women’s lives.
- In groups of 3-4 people, each group receives several excerpts from a period of her life.
- Each group must make a collage narrating the life period assigned to them.
- When finished, we attach the collage to the timeline

Syra was born in A Coruña in 1899, into a bourgeois family. She partners with the painter Francisco Miguel, with whom she travels and connects with artists and intellectuals worldwide. They return to Galicia in 1933, and in 1936 Francisco de Miguel is arrested by the coup plotters, tortured and murdered. Syra goes into exile in Mexico and writes diaries recounting the horror of Francoist repression and the dignity of Galician women. They would not be published until 2000. In 2023, the remains of Francisco Miguel were exhumed, with his hands amputated by his murderers.

Mercedes was born in Barcelona in 1911, into a comfortable family with a Galician father. In 1939, she was sent to A Coruña to reorganise the Communist Party in Galicia, where she was arrested and transferred to Ventas prison, where she witnessed daily torture and executions. In 1942 she obtained provisional release, fled to France and joined the French Resistance. She was arrested in 1944 and sent to a Nazi concentration camp. She was liberated on 14 April 1945, the very day she was scheduled to be executed in the gas chamber.
