FEMWEAVE

Designing the future of education and civic engagement through women’s stories to bridge the divide and to protect European remembrance, democracy and sustainable peace

About the project

FEMWEAVE is a comprehensive project aimed at strengthening European citizenship by contributing to a common historical and cultural identity based on gender equality, cross-border connections for sustainable peace, and democratic values.

Educational Approach

To do so, Global Citizenship Education will be the approach to actively engage participants in counteracting denialism and revisionism of History, hate speech, and all kind of anti-democratic mindsets.

Gender perspective will be the thread to preserve European heritage, by amplifying women’s voices and recognizing their contributions, while curbing their under-represented role in media and in History education.

FEMWEAVE will also contrast education policies in Spain and Italy, fostering collaboration and exchange, to learn from the successes and to build common opportunities.

Digital Resources and Heritage

A key aspect is the development of a digital platform serving as both an educational resource and a digital media library of memories, focusing on wartime, post-war eras, and political opposition.

As main outputs, it includes

• a digital media library for cultural heritage preservation,
• an innovative methodology
• a participatory campaign
• multimedia resources for education practitioners

and a report on the state of play.

In summary....

FEMWEAVE is a collaborative project empowering European citizenship through gender equality, media literacy for active citizenship and for civic engagement, and a historical cultural identity based on democracy and on cross-border alliances
