Our recent analysis highlighted that women’s roles in pivotal historical moments —such as wars, post-war periods and authoritarian regimes — are often overlooked. Although women played crucial roles as peacekeepers, political activists and caregivers, their contributions are rarely included in traditional narratives.

By enriching our curricula with these perspectives, we can:

  • Foster Understanding: Acknowledge the vital impact women have had throughout history, providing students with a more complete and accurate picture of our past.
  • Promote Equality: Encourage discussions around gender equality, allowing students to critically engage with historical narratives and to recognize biases that persist today.
  • Challenge Stereotypes: Equip students to counteract denialism and extremist ideologies by promoting more inclusive discussions about our collective history.

FemWeave is not just about teaching history, it’s about empowering future generations to appreciate diversity and advocate for equity.

By sharing these often-overlooked contributions, we can inspire students to take an active role in shaping their communities and society as a whole.
